mgj
Good salmon action in Sydney in the last few a days on fly.During the recent wild weather I'd be hooked up in close with a 4m wave on my tail! it's good that weather has abated. Plenty of hook ups on fly and some of the sambos are around 70cm and fat. I also hooked up a good king on16lb salmon leader-no chance. taloyoak
Nice one MGJ, I like how you always have a photo looking from behind screaming reel - keep up the good work and on fly! Edited October 3, 2010 by Nanook
The Poacher
Hi MGJ, were there decent schools around? Am thinking of braving the weather tomorrow, and using all my hard earned brownie points. The Poacher

jim77
Stefan - if you drive along the inside of North Head from about 6:30am onwards you will be unlucky if you don't stumble across a school of Salmon somewhere along the way. Typically they will be somewhere between Old Mans Hat and Bluefish Point, often with multiple schools along that stretch. Generally they ae quite close to the shore so be careful if there is any sort of sea/swell running. I was out 3 mornings last week and i saw salmon schools everytime i was out. There are also loads of bonito around and also trevs and Kings mixed in and holding deeper if you are really lucky. Just look for the birds... Or for the patch of 4 or 5+ boats congregated in a tight patch!
