spinner
hey raiders havent been on in a while but my dad (groper) has been putting up posts on our trips, but today its my turn It was a sunny morning and we were both tired from the previous day, but ready to go fishing. We left the house at about 7:30 and almost immediately ran into traffic and bad luck on the road like just getting hit by red lights, or going to the petrol station and some guy with a massive boat and a truck traps you in there for about half an hour.. after about an hour and a half on the road in attempt to reach our destination, Wally's wharf, we finally got there only to see a huge boat there with a crane on it loading crates off a truck onto itself and after another 40 minutes (talking to a random about fishing all that time, was quite enjoyable ) we asked if that was his final load, the answer we received was "i have another truck to unload and i have to put some crates on a third one" and with that we went to the boat ramp at water street and with a bit of difficult we were FINALLY on the water. We went straight out past the heads and dropped the lines out and wouldn't you know it.. my dad started bringing in flathead after flathead after flathead, a few legal but most undersized while im just sitting there with the rod in my hand pulling 2 baby flathead at a time waiting for my luck to change.. We then headed to a reef where it was pretty much the same story.."drop your lines down...IM ON!!" and im still sitting there...the rod in my hand..checking the bait every five minutes or so..changing it while my dad brings in some reef fish, losing some and then after a while, i get on to a large fish, but knowing my luck it came off i thought to myself "ok, if something doesn't happen soon ill start begging my dad for fish but just as i was thinking that i get another large fish on, nowhere near as big as the first but still a considerably good size and it fought pretty well, i ended up pulling in a sergeant baker about 52cm long, maybe things were starting to turn my way after the first catch i started bringing up some reef fish aswell as my dad, letting some go and keeping the slightly larger ones. My dad put out a line with a light sinker and it was eventually hit and he pulled up a fairly big port jackson, about 1.2m long he opened the spool and let the shark run for about ten seconds before handing the rod to me "here have some fun" he said, with a grin on my face i brought up the port jackson and we had a proper look at it..too bad we forgot the camera in the car... the day continued on pretty much the same way.. bringing in reef fish etc,and we headed home early to get some rest. We ended up with 8 Flathead, some reef fish and threw back so many undersized snapper but ended up with a 38cm snapper. despite the fact that i started catching fish fairly late in the day, i still enjoyed the day greatly as fishing is about relaxing and not actually catching the fish )for me anyway, but just pointing out that catching fish does sometimes help you relax ) im looking forward to many...many more trips with groper At home my dad starts the BBQ going and cooked two flat heads, 2 nanaguys and three yellow tail, wait for it, the bbq yellowtail is for Husky misha, she has to get some too you know. here she is saying hello with her paw.
