Bream Comps

Ok so i've finally got my boat setup exactly the way i want it (well pretty much).

I'm getting better at fishing with plastics, especially for flathead, but after our trip to forster and the suggestion that i should look up the AFC Forster tournament, i've been thinking about getting into bream fishing and then the odd comp.

I did a quick search and could only find comps that cost about $1000 to enter. After only ever catching 1 big bream and 2 legal snapper on lures, there's no way i'd fork out that kind of cash... I'd have more luck winning in a casino ;)

Are there social comps with weekly or monthly entry fees under $100? Is it just as simple as finding a local fishing club, i remember seeing one over Brighton way, just can't remember were.

Would prefer somewhere towards Cronulla, but would be happy with somewhere within about 20mins drive. I travel a lot for work and would have to go away for months at a time... are there one off comps or it is all structured like a footy season?

So many questions, if there's a website anyone could suggest that would be great.

Mate your best bet would be the southern bream series run by stgeorges basin lure and fly

They fish botany the hacking, sydney harbour, lake illawarra, the hawkesbury and further down the coast likr the basin, turros and stuff like that

Its the end of there season in a couple of weeks but they will be starting i think in feb again, and its a monthly comp. its a 2 per team comp that cost around $100 you will have to have an appropriate live well, all saftey gear and boat insurance.

Im goin to try compete next year too and a few of the raiders compete as well so your bound to know someone there

You better start practicing because some of the places are really tough going

Pete

Sounds like i'm going to have to give it a miss.. I'll be spending quite a few months away from home next year and don't like competing half the year.

Might wait until i'm retired or if discharge from the navy.
