New Excuse & A New Toy

There's nothing I like more than a new excuse to buy fishing tackle.

I thought, because I'm a very dedicated and committed Fishraider, that I'd better show my support for our new sponsor, Pure Fishing.

So today my favourite Abu Soron STX20 was joined by a new baby brother... the STX10.

I hope my wife appreciates my willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty :biggrin2:

Cheers, Slinky

Don't tell me you actually TELL your wife what you spend on fishing gear??? I wouldn't dare tell Keith!!! He might demand equal $$ (only kidding! We actually both spend similar amounts on our chosen sports/hobbies!!!)

You are a real tackle rat, Slinky!!! Go on, put up a photo of it!! Bet you've pulled it apart, already!!! :biggrin2:

My greatest fear is that when I die, my wife will sell all my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it.

Just wondering what rods you have your STX10 reels matched with? And is there much of a difference in casting distance between 1000 and 2500 size reels?

I want to buy a new reel to put on a 1-4kg 7ft t-curve flight for use on the flats. I have a 6'6 t-curve with a stradic ci4 2500, but it's 200g doesn't balance the 7ft rod so i can't just buy another one. After all the talk about the stx10's i'm thinking of picking one up. I'm reluctant after reading in a post a while back that 1000 sized reels don't cast as far as a 2500. I'll be using 3 or 4lb braid. For flathead and bream.
