Guest Big-Banana
Hey all, we were fishing the reefs at Terrigal and the snapper were very shy on our leaders. I was using standard 11.2kg leader but i wanted to go lighter. I went out and bought this Siglon 9.5kg Fluorocarbon Leader and i was wondering if it would be good to use for bottom bashing as iam guessing its predominantly used for s.p fishing. Has anyone used this stuff before?
Bashir
I use 6kg - 8kg line straight to the hook for snapper fishing. But I fish floaters, not bottom rigs. I suppose the fluro may be an advantage, but the stuff is pretty $$$ for me.
Guest Big-Banana
I know $36 for 50m of 9.5kg. I might begin to fish floaters more often as they obviously produces better results.
Bashir
Yes i think floaters are better if you anchor and get a berley trail going. Bottom rigs do get fish though and I always have one sitting in a rod holder anyway.

Grantm
Gday boys, Have to ask another dumb question - I have heard of floaters, but how do they work for Snapper how do you rig them
Ken A
Its pretty simple. Under good conditions you tie a hook on your line & thats it Sometimes you need a little weight. Theres some info in an article here Floating baits

I had a mate ask me about stuff I wasn''t 100% sure about so I told him to log on to Fishraider.com and he agreed, top articles
AdamK
I know $36 for 50m of 9.5kg. I might begin to fish floaters more often as they obviously produces better results. try the Nitlon leaders. I have used Siglon and now use the Nitlon. Quality wise they are very similar but the Nitlon is much cheaper than the Siglon my last spool of 20Lb I paid around the $25.00 for a 100mtr spool. Don''t let the price fool you, they are a very good fluro leader and you will find that most of the bream boys here use it Adam
Sputnik
I’m with Adam. Don’t ask me why, but although the Stren Magnathin has a (nominally) smaller diameter than Siglon or Nitlon, I always seem to catch more fish on the Nitlon. I went down to 3lb for the softplastic social on Sunday, and it held up really well, too. Not cheap, but hey - if it catches fish...
