Gonefishn100
Hi, I have some time off at the end of june and want to do some fly-fishing. The problem is I don't know where to go or if it is even worth going after trout in June. I am willing to travel almost anywhere in NSW to get on some nice fish. Also I only have a 4 wt rod, will this be heavy enough. Any recomendations about where I should try would be a great help. Also if somebody is intrested in coming I can lawyas use a fishing buddy. Thanks Matt
granpop
Trout season closes on Queens Birthday Weekend in June, but you can still fish Lakes (Eucumbene & Jindabyne anyway). Fish are normally gather at the head of the lakes for their spawning run, but many are still caught. Be prepared to be cold though!
Matt
As Granpop mentioned all the declared Trout Rivers will be closed from the Queens B'Day Long Weekend through 'till the October Long Weekend. All of the Lakes however are open year round. This time of year I find the hardest to catch Trout, most fish will be moving up the rivers to spawn making them somewhat difficult to target. I would target area's of the Lakes where the Rivers enter the lakes (make sure its still the lake proper!) like Waste Point in Lake Jindabyne or Providence Portal in Eucumbene. There will be Trout here in numbers getting ready to spawn and should be actively feeding putting on weight for the run up the river. Cheers Windy
dacobra
It looks like you will be lake fishing - Lake Wyangla near Cowra is underestimated trout water and it may be worth your while to make some enquiries before you go on leave.
