Live Bait Around Brighton

am hoping to fish with some live bait from a land based spot in maroubra, they were catching Kings from this spot the other day, was wondering if anyone can point me to a good spot around the Brighton area to pick up some live bait.

what kind of live bait are you after?

yakkas? if so, you can try of the wharf near Captain Cooks Bridge, use a hand line with very small hooks and a split sinker.

you could probly get live bait from the exact spot you seen the kingy caught from.. if the kings are around there will be bait.

Hi there.

As already said yakkas from the wharf at Captain Cook. Although the wharf on Brighton itself is closed you should be able to float fish under it for yakkas early morning. On the way to Maroubra swing past La Perouse for some squid off the rocks around Bare Island. Everyone fishes off the bridge but you can catch them anywhere in the area.

Was the Kingie caught on the North or South at Maroubra?

I reckon live squid is pretty hard to beat for a king

Alisdair had the right idea with bare island

I have caught plenty of good live bait sized squid from the foreshore as well as off the island on the inside of it - facing back to shore

From a boat I have caught stacks in the shallows where the foreshore meets the beach on the eastern side

hey champ i think bait 2 catch those kings is squid in that area if you can get some nice size taylor a kingy wont say no 2 that
