brendong
I was down in Conjola on the weekend, massive amounts of fresh in the system due to all the rain...I've put a post in the lure and fly section along with some pics on the currnet state of the lake (failry ugly I must say)...hope it helps those that might be planning a family holiday....I hear Burril is in a very similar state to conjola. Rumours are they will open both systems soon...at least we don't have 3 dolphins smashing into the bait and fish ala Tuross did... http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=52697
johnds
Hi there Poddy Trapper where can we find more news on the dredging of the entrance to the lake? been going down there for a few years and this news is disturbing especially when your taking your young family and if its true about the water quality, where on earth are the kids supposed to swim??? if nothing is done soon, will not look good at all!! going in the middle of january, hopefully something gives soon thanks for heads up, had this holiday booked in a year ago and this news has me rattled a little Thanks
ace
thanks for this report poddy trapper , i holiday at conjola every xmas camping at the lake side caravan park , fingers crossed that the lake is open by boxing day , it does look rather dirty , 1 advantage is it might be easier 2 get the boat in to berringer lake with the higher water . just wondering if you happened 2 see if the lake side park was flooded aswell (the last park before the lake widens into the main body ) but you probly know that being kind of a local .thaks again for your report . cheers Aaron

Given the Tuross system was closed for a about 2 years and 3 dolphins survived in a trapped system I reckon it will be ok even if they don't open it up for a year, but that said i'd still love it to be opened...Otherwise those monster Taylor won't come back come winter. I didn't check lakeside but I wouldn't be surprised if the water is over the edge of the park and has crept up....I'm pretty sure that edge would sit lower than Lakes Entrace does, so leaving a boat in the water won't be as simple as pulling it up on the shore this time around.... johnds
thanks for your reply!! i checked with the local paper and sent an email to a journalist from the local milton ulladulla paper. the reply was that the lake had gotten a bit worse for the locals and the council has now opened the channel. this is for lake toubrie and burrill (not sure on the spelling of the lake)lakes as well. so all good news for the holiday period. lake conjola is/has been the best place for holidaying with my family so far over the last 5 years. who knows might see you guys down there!! just look for a 5.7m quintrex with screaming kids when a fish is caught!!
