Captain Pugwash
Despite the 30 knot southerly and 2.5m swell we headed out on the Pig today. Had the inlaw parents down from Port Macquarie and the sister and brother in law on board as well. And amazinging enough I get on well with all of them! Off to balmoral to pick up a few yakkas then off to old faithfull. Took a couple of goes to anchor up in the howling wind but eventually landed us over the spot. Berleyed up and sure enough straight on to dozens of horse sized yakkas. We throw most of them back but they are a lot of fun on light gear while you're waiting for something BIG to happen. And sure enough it did. I livie on a balloon screams off and I'm onto it. Big and heavy it feels like a King when all of a sudden..................NOTHING! I am gutted and wind it in to find the bloody thing has spat the hook. Meanwhile the yakkas keep flowing along with some squire and a trevally so everyone else is in a good mood. But the world changes for me when a bottom dwelling livie shows some familiar signs and sure enough up comes dinner in the form of a John Dory. After a while we decide the wind and swell is too annoying so we move to Reef Beach which is fairly protected in a southerly. We then proceed to a very nice mixed bag including a nice flatty, plate sized trevally, heaps of undersize squire and even a nice little legal whiting. Thinking the day had gone pretty well was thinking of heading for home when can you believe it another John Dory decides to latch on to a livie! Total tally for the day 90 fish boated. (Dollface still keeps score and forces visitors to choose which team they are on! ) A good time had by all. Might even have another lash tomorrow Time to cook some Dory's Cheers Pete

Captain Pugwash
I will mate! 47626 I've heard a whisper of a spot where you might be able to find that 90cm Kingy. It's just outside so I couldn't get out there today but will definitely be having a lash when the wind drops down. See ya out there Pete
Captain Pugwash
Consistent results Pete, well done. Did you manage any pics of the Dory's? 47627 Mark, I have two digital cameras and both of the bastards are broken. One is still under bloody warranty! We have put one in for repair while we try to find the warranty paperwork for the other. It's very frustrating because I know how much you blokes (and I) love to see photos of these catches and I don't have the means currently. I have been taking some with a normal camera and when I get it developed I will post them. Cheers Pete
