Pittwater & Fad

G'day Raiders,

Was hoping to get out of terrigal today to do some jigging but a check of the weather in the morning changed our plans to stick to more shelted waters. The plan was to spend the whole day downrigging Pittwater but after getting livies at west head and seeing how flat the seas were we decided to head to the Broken Bay FAD (I know, just couldn't make up my mind) and see if there were any dollies around... Nope... what a waste of time and fuel that was.

So we come back in and went along with our original plan of downrigging pitwater. And after seeing some action on the surface my dad tosses out an old wonder wobbler thinking of hooking up on a bonito and gets smashed by a rat king which takes him for a nice run on 2-4kg bream gear... pitty he lost it right besing the boat due to the old rusted trebels snapping, only 60cm?? but I have never heard drag scream so fast before :1yikes:

Kept downrigging and picked up a little amberjack and a bonnie towards the end of the day on live yakkas. The amberjack was a first for me and now I have caught all three members of the seriola family!!

Have to agree with you prawnstar it was a slow day out there.

Thanks for moving out the way of that fish we had on. You blokes just missed the action. There was a good bust up just before you arrived.

Earlier we spent about 2hrs fishing for squid and only managed to get 3 small ones. ( Our squid King didn't fail us ). We proceeded to downrig all over the place for zip.

We lost two squid to peckers BUT the third one got monstered by a 90cm fat angry king. I was a good battle on the Shimano 8000d and a small (8-10) wilson texie

Also a good battle by skipper and crew to get to the rod first. Skipper has a new nickname - Poacher!

The skipper was happy as he had fish for a week. ( As ordered by SWMBO )

We went back to try for more squid but only managed one more. More downrigging for zip.

Pulled the pin at around three

1xKing

1xSalmon

4xbonnies

4xsquid

cheers

Congrats on the king, looked like you had a good battle on your hands and me and my dad have the same battle for the downrigger rod too :biggrin2: . We have been finding it almost impossible to get squid lately so if you don't mind me asking, what area have use been catching them?
