Hi guys,

Was thinking of mounting a new VHF antenna up high on my boat and came across this little one, it's from shakespeare and says it's for sailboats, here's what it said

Anyone know if this little antenna would do the job, it'll go onto an aluminium boat, I got no more than a few miles outside and mainly do bay and lake fishing etc.

Anyone know if this little antenna would do the job, it'll go onto an aluminium boat, I got no more than a few miles outside and mainly do bay and lake fishing etc.

VHF works on line of sight, so the higher the antenna the better. That antenna is far to short for a small vessel.
