DirtyDaz
Hi to All, A broad report, Went down south to Currarong from Boxing Day till the 7th and have fished nearly everyday from the Shallows to the Hump and everywhere in between for some great times. Flathead are thick and were the easy target. Reds and Mowies were a little harder to get but a few came in, nothing really of size though. Did hear a story of a King come in off the stones to 32 KGS and witnessed the local Pro pull in heaps of Big Kings while we sat anxiouly waiting for our fresh squid heads to get nailed.........not to be...... Tried jigging, plastics nothing was going our way. This went on for a couple of frustrating days, only the flathead on the way in was feeding the family. Persistantly kept chasing kings with an array of baits, squid - no go, yakkas - no go, only live slimys got a nudge, and boy they got smashed. The Kings were of good size and incredibly fussy, not one rat amongst them. In the end only downrigged slimys done the job ( i no this cos i took a mate Steve "the Admiral" out, who bought his downrigger ) Great fights and sore arms prevailed and three for Steve and two for me, ( 1 over the magic meter mark ) made the holiday a great one. To anyone heading down the coast, the new boat ramp in Currarong is a winner. No more beach ramp
jim77
Well done Daz - some good fish there. I was down at JB also from 26th to 2nd. When it was clear that the Kings weren't in big numbers in the bay we just targetted the squid and flatties also. Well done for persisting and getting some good fish! I might have to go back down for another crack if the weather picks up... Edited January 7, 2011 by jim77

Lead lining, The ramp is all fininshed and works well, helps to have two people though. We launched a 5mtr boat in high and low tides, low tide was right at the bottom limit of the ramp. Also a nor-easter makes it a little surgey. Looks like you were out at the banks? Shallows
