dhype Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 (edited) Hi Raiders - Have not posted anything for a while cuz been too busy landing kings hahahah!!! .. have boated well over 50 kings in the past 3 week! Anyway, hit the Bay this morning along with 60,000 other boats which were on the water to have a quick fish Took my mate Ty who has yet to land a legal kingfish and this morning we fixed his problem! Parked at Molli point and all up we landed about 15 kings - best going 73cm... they were everywhere.. double and triple hookups ! Tossed back all the fish bar 3 which we keep for dinner to the dismay of all the other boater who decided to park 3 meters all around us once they saw us land fish after fish!! - in saying that, they all still managed to catch jack shit !!! hahahaah just got to love when that happens! My mate landed the biggest king today and to say he was ecstatic is a masterpiece of understatement! A few pics from today and last week See ya all on the water tomorrow! Cheers Trung - DHYPE Edited January 26, 2011 by dhype

Longy Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 Well done dhype, you really know how to attract and catch fish in the Bay. Still hoping to catch up with you one of these days. Will be in Sydney this coming weekend, but not likely to have time to get out on the water, maybe next time (should be up Syd way during Chinese New Year). Longy.

They were just left overs from a whiting/bream session from the night before ( caught plenty of them also!) The kings prefer plastics, yakkas and squid! Cheers Edited January 27, 2011 by dhype

Cheers trung yeah that was me near the corner. We ended up with 8 rats and 1 keeper, started a bit late yesterday, took the wife and mother-in-law out and there was no way they were going to get up at the usual 4am.
t187 Posted January 26, 2011 Posted January 26, 2011 great effort mate, mind me asking what time it was you were hooking up? I went out but in the evening about 6pm, got some yakkas even a slimy, had em on the surface and on the floor but nothing taking em, didnt hang around too long though as the wind was starting to pick up. I was catching the yakkas near another boat and anchored up at molly near him, i was the one talkin to ya and using a pepsi bottle as a make-do float! wanna see if you had any luck after i left
Flano Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Good report. I landed my 1st kingie (well actually 2) yesterday. They must be in plague proportions as mine were caught on floating dead bait and in the middle of nowhere in the Bay (I was after tailor and bonito at the time). Actually 1 was a rat but the other was just legal. I thought I latched onto a small shark it was that unexpected. Mick

Cheers Trung - DHYPE your 3rd picture says it all the hot spot for kings at mol point is the last light pole in the back ground this is where we were pulling in kingy after kingy a couple of months ago well done it sounds like i cant and wont be downrigging mol point anymore with so many boats there u can buy california squid from tackle shops it comes in a box and the squid is nice and white a lot cheaper than plastics at $7 half a kilo
DaveTheBoy Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 Great catches Trung! Very encouraging - I was fishing (land based) there too & reckon I saw you. I had no success myself - but did see you get swarmed by other boats about 3 fish into your morning! I could barely get my plastic out with so many drivers coming recklessly close to the breakwall - one guy actually left oyster shells in his wake!! If they had 1/2 an idea they'd still be dangerous! Well I will persist here (probably not on public holidays!) - if you see me give me a wave. I'm usually the only "lone ranger" stupid enough to hike down there - normally wearing my straw hat. You should be proud of the fish you kept - and more proud of the ones you let swim away!!
shole01 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 awesome work Trung I think you're the Botany king with all your posts the past few months
Guest Aussie007 Posted January 27, 2011 Posted January 27, 2011 (edited) no wonder i didnt get any touches the last time i was at mol point weeks ago the kings were in a lot closer 10-15m out now they look to be a lot further out Well I will persist here (probably not on public holidays!) - if you see me give me a wave. Hi Davo- I will say hi next time i see you at molli... i did recall someone with a straw hat on the left of my boat.... I dont think you could have missed my boat.. its the only boat out there with the bright pink pool noodle on the front windscreen ! As for all the boat that swarmed me.. they got so close i could walk onto their boat.. that pissed me right off Good luck with your landbased soft plastic fishing.. you will get a king sooner or later cuz they are right at the rocky ledge! Try the 5 to 7 inch squidgy flick baits, bozos, sluggos etc Cheers Trung
