To actually catch it? Or to have fun catching it.

You could always just use 60 lb braid :P and reef it in

I'm trying to land the biggest land based Kingy record....but I feel it will take some time :biggrin2:

I use 50lb braid with a 60lb leader... have landed Kingies land based now to 65cm ( Rats ) and only one to date  but that is only because I switched to braid recently. Before I was on 30lb mono and got smoked everytime I hooked up, never able to land any!! :mad3:

50lb braid was easy to land a kingy from land based...wear gloves though!!!!

Now I'm thinking to upgrade to 80lb braid and 200lb leader and go after a 200cm + Kingy... land based :yahoo:

You might need to move to NZ for that...
