numbnuts Posted January 29, 2011 Posted January 29, 2011 I headed out in search of some whiting that a local mate of mine had told me about .He has been braining them lately on pieces of pipi on the edges of the channels. When I got to his place I found out that he was a little under the weather ( JACK & JIM )had got the better of him at the club the night before. So he appologized ,gave me the bait and told me the marks so I set out on my own.I did every thing exactly as instructed but after 90 minutes all I had to show for the effort were undersized snapper and toads. After hooking yet another toad I was about to interupt his hangover with a verbal blast on the phone when a rod buckled over and line screamed off the spool. After a tense fight I steered it clear of the snags and safely into the net, it was a stonker 40cm. I had second thoughts about abusing my mate as the shell berley was starting to work. No whiting but all up I landed 8 bream between 40cm and 28cm not a bad bi-catch in the end so all is forgiven.
