kinggame Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Went out for a run off Sydney on Sunday.. Ran out 15 mile off Sydney heads, starting running south. 30 mins of trolling 100kg Stripe marlin jumps on the long rigger, dancing round for about 30 secs, hooks pulled. was not expecting anything that early in the day. 1 hour later big wahoo (est +30kg)launches airborne.. Dosent touch anything in the pattern Pushed out to browns for a go at a big blue.. Nothing around Came back in close bout 15 mile out, short rigger screams off for a minute.. Hooks pull. This was starting to really get ridiclous.. bit later on long rigger cracks. finally were hooked up.. Brought in this massive dollie, would have estimated at +30kg. never seen one this big in my life. awesome fish.. Great day out. water temp round 24.5.. great colour, plenty of flying fish about..

sanger Posted February 2, 2011 Posted February 2, 2011 Awsome dollie guys well done!!!! Im guessing you were but were you giving the boat a little gas when you were hooking up the beakies to set the hooks? where they all sharpened? coming back with blunt points or anything? I know the hookup rate for lures is far less than live or switch baits but if you are dropping them consistantly then maybe its time to start analizing the your system or it could be simply bad luck!!! Just some thoughts, and you guys probably have a tonne more experience than me so please dont take it the wrong way but i just always like to question what im doing to see if there is a better way . Tight lines Fishlexic
kinggame Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 Hooks were pin point sharp... Rigged to perfection Kept the boat in gear whilst hook up was on.. Just one of those days i guess..
kinggame Posted February 2, 2011 Author Posted February 2, 2011 Nah didnt get a measurment.. Waited around at the marina for over an hour for somebody to bring a set of heavy scales.. No Luck Fish was 6ft long.. Struggled to lift it up.. Could of been over 30kg.. who knows !!!! I was happier catchin that fish than a marlin.. Wont see one of them that size ever again im guessing..

kinggame Posted February 3, 2011 Author Posted February 3, 2011 Lures range differnet colour and sizes... 8-13 inches Pakula, mould crafts, and other names cant remember. what ever works well in the water.. Each and all have there own theories on best lures but ive seen some decent fish go for the cheap shitty ones.. So who knows.. Half the problem is deciding which ones to use out of the 30 we have in our bag.. Hooks range from single 9/0-12/0 depending on lure size.. Gotta get back out there while its hot.. Just want that beast of a +500lb blue/black.. Aint stopping till i get it.. Heatons hill is calling
