Started Last night cathing up with few raiders & catch some squid.

SQUININ, RAFINX, & SARA. (really nice people)Hi guys.

I only managed 2 squid, but not to worry gotta get up early anyway chase up some more.

Headed straight to pittwater for some squid. 1st spot no luck wasted no time so we moved on.

2nd spot 1st cast Im on, my mate says weres the net. I think to myself not again.

I get the little bugger boat side & it gets off. NOT HAPPY JAN.

We moved again. 1st cast I get snagged There was no way I was losing this jig. I didnt have

a spare of this colour. So I dive in to retrive it. approx 3mtr deep I get 1/2 down it comes loose.

Dry off try another spot. 1st cast Im on again. This time the little bugger had all his tenticle hooked

I was able to lift it straight in, by this time it was getting late needed to get fishing.

Off to Barrenjoey, Sounder was full of fish. Looked promising.

On goes the live squid. Not even a minute the rod is buckled over. After a few minutes 65cm is onboard

My 1st king & its legal, I could have done a little dance on the boat. while I busy unhooking my mate is on with a strip bait.

In total we landed 12 kept 5 legals. good day but very hot

it was meetiiny you zed we ended up with 16 squid didn't get home till 3 am i got 6 my 2 mates got 5 each

geez moe i should of just stayed there instead of going for jews, I ended up with a kid snagging with my main rod 5 times, i just packed up and left, and thanks for the compliment alphabet, your a nice guy yourself

i didn't get any sleep friday got home from fishing then straight 2 work sat mornin well get out again

once im done with work ill try and squid abit more. im over fishing with other people near me tho, after the past 2 nights.

now you no what i meant when we went to the spot in the river and i didn't want to fish there

I was out Sunday at Barrenjoey (northern side of the headland) - and tried at first with live yakkas. I had no luck at all, and there were guys pulling kings out all around me. This inspite of huge shoals of yakkas hitting the surface all around me as schools of kingies passed underneath my boat. I asked one guy who went past with another fresh monster flailing on the floor of his boat "What bait?" He was using squid strips. I didn't have any, so I switched to some decent quality pillies that were more the size of the squid strips. I immediately started getting hookups, but found out that 40lb line and 60 lb leader is not enough for kings when the water is relatively shallow and has a craggy rocky bottom. I lost a few fish and a few rigs in short order.

The other thing I noticed: the guys with the downriggers were outfishing everyone else by a fair margin... either this means that downriggers work, or that the guys that know how to land the most kings and happen to use downriggers.
