I have been lucky enough to get out a couple of times over the past week and a bit. So here's a quick rundown.

I took a mate out from work one day. He was pretty keen to get out and get his first kingfish. We motored out to the main harbour to find plenty of surface feeding kings. We landed 4 fish, 2 each. My mate was stoked with his first kingfish (albeit undersized). To his credit, he landed one of them on his 6lb outfit. Not bad for his second ever kingy!!!

That same day we pushed out to some traps as conditions were good. The water was cobalt blue and 24.3 degrees. We spotted some dollies but they were extremely fussy. They even turned their noses up to livies. We ended up with 3 and again my mate was very happy catching his first.

A couple of days later I headed out with another mate on his boat to fish for dollies. We tried 4 traps and they were all dead. We then trolled for about 3 hours for zip so retunred to some inshore reefs save the day. Landed a few rats and I got one legal fish around 70cm.

I went out myself on tuesday as well. It was a very late start (hit the water at about 10:20am) and fished the harbour markers with plastics and squid. There are bloody rats everywhere!!!! Right towards the end of the day i hooked up solid and landed a 93cm king. Then my last squid was mauled by another rat :ranting2:

I went out again today and tried focusing my efforts with yakkas considering I was having trouble with rats and pickers on squid the other day. That was a massive fail..... Should have got squid.

Only ended up with rats.. rats... rats... rats

Hopefully some solid fish on larger schools will show up soon.
