Hey guys, over the next 10 days my girlfriend and i are driving up north and back in a campervan. we will probably not get much further than byron but even still, i do not know much about fishing outside of sydney.

I was hoping someone would be able to drop me a few good fishin destinations on the way up, be it a beach, safe rocks or land. also i am pretty inexperienced in beach fishing so what kind of rigs and baits should i be using, and what should i be looking for? (i.e. edge of a gutter etc)

also if anyone else knows any cool destinations to check out on our trip it would be very helpful, we have not planned anything and are after an amazing adventure.

thanks heaps guys. cheers, dave.

Pull into Harrington, about 3,1/2 north of Sydney, great rock wall to fish off, either river side or the ocean side. nice caravan park only 2 minute walk from the wall, called Big 4 I think, used to be council park, nice little town for a stop over.

Crescent Head is a great spot with lots of good surfing, amenities and a range of fishing options: from flicking soft plastics around to rock and beach. Drive down the Goolwa to see a range of beautiful beaches and camping options.

A bit further north try staying at Grassy Head. It is a very peaceful and beautiful place where you can have a fire in the campground. A lovely little beach and over the hill on the headland some great fishing off the rocks. The nearby Stuart's Point gives access to a quiet estuary.

At the end of it all, I reckon that less time driving means more time relaxing and fishing so I wouldn't worry about how far north you get!

Have a great time.
