I take it your refering to the channel flowing out of windang lake. The fishing has been some of the best in a long time.

Depends if your going to be fishing in a boat or from the shore.Have been stacks of flattys and there of good size.Plenty of whiting

and bream but there are a lot of smaller ones amongst them and the tailor to eat your plastics. It is illegal to set crab pots

in the lake channel you have to go into the lake proper. You can go over to the fisheries office to check if your unsure.

I'll be there this weekend to, thanks to the above for the spots. I did fish there a couple of weeks ago but the wind picked up and that was it. Before that I fished over 30 years ago when you were allowed to fish from the bridge and we always had a great time and caught fish.

how far back from the bridge do you have to go before its legal to set the traps ?

and yeah should be a good weekend , will post a report at the end :)

and im fishing from a boat by the way , its only a narrow channel so is it a pain in the arse drifting ? will i be better of chucking the anchor ?

good luck to all fishing this weekend

I'll be down there in 2 weeks for the weekend mate, we are just about always lucky down there.

Fishing the channel, around the tide change, fresh prawns and you'll be into heaps, we found a nice little hole near the run out of a little channel from the sandbar and we have pulled out heaps of legal trevally, bream, flatties and whiting

Set the anchor without a doubt, you'll need to otherwise you'll be moving every couple of minutes

If you want to set the crab pots keep following the channel, up past the bridge, turn right and keep going until you enter the lake opening, you can set the crab pots in there

You'll see lots of other boats running up there too

Best of luck mate

Check the tides if theres a big high and a low low the current will be raging.Anchoring up and moving around

will be your best bet.Been plenty of good fish caught up near the dropoff just watch for the sand bars up towards

the top of the channel. You can set your crab pots after you get into the lake proper you will see were everyone

else is.And the weed has been a huge problem at times more than likely from the pros netting for prawns and mullet.
