Haven't posted or fished for a while due to work, however finally got the chance to do some fishing over the last few weeks. This season has been pretty good with a lot of kings (mostly rats) and heaps of bonnies. Been seeing some massive schools of both smashing the surface less than 30 meters from the shore.

Friday was a pretty good day and I thought I would share since I havent been seeing as many LB posts anymore.

Hit the local wharf at around 6am with 2 mates. Massive high tide and nice weather even though it was very windy on the way down. Most of the fish were caught on floats with tiny live yakkas or gars. Between the 3 of us we fished 4 rods with 1 for bait.

It was great to get a nice variety and the amberjack(66) was an interesting catch off a jetty. Even the bonito were some of the biggest we have had this season.

All in all a good day just wish we could get some of those massive kings i keep seeing posted!

Wow you have done what i've been trying to do for weeks...that is, catch a kingie landbased. I've been hitting a wharf up early in the east for the last 8 weeks. I get nothing but bonnies off my live yakkas.

Can you give a rough location (Nth Sth, East, West) if it doesn't give away too much. I'm interested in the factor that made it good.

How deep?

How close to the heads?

structure/Moorings near by?

Did you use berley?

How deep was your yakka off the float?

When did most of the action start/stop?

Sorry with all the questions. I'm a little obsessed or so my girl tells me.

I usually get to my spot about 5.30 get my yakkas then ping em out. I usually leave around 8am. So I'm wonder what happens after this...maybe my kings swim by then.

Very nice effort there mate. i must say land base has never been my cup of tea but with results like that i had better get my ass into gear and give it a go. Well Done:biggrin2:
