luderick -angler Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Well having the luxury of crashing in the inner city and having some bait I headed down Pyrmont for the last two arvos to a spot that i have not fished in years. Well wrong tide but bloody hell the things are everywhere right now for the last two arvos I have caught a dozen fish putting in three hours. In over 12 outings since getting back I am yet to blank! They are thick in numbers around Sydney now, also saw lots of bream caught by another guy on chicken fillet. Damn I am enjoying my blackfishing right now!
Centrepin Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Royce, Great to hear you are doing well. Too much water in the Snowies at the moment. They have had 200mm in last 12 days. Went down yesterday and river I want to fish was too high. No Blackies for me at the moment. Will keep you updated. Geoff
luderick -angler Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 Geoff, my fly rod arrived back home so i am all go for a fly fish! Hey lost your mobile can you shoot me yours again mate?
arpie Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Well done, Royce - have you checked out the blackies that frequent the walls of the Botanical Gardens? Trouble is, you aren't allowed to fish for them ...... from land ........ one day, i'll have a go with my yak!! Cheerio Roberta
luderick -angler Posted February 24, 2011 Author Posted February 24, 2011 Oh god yes Roberta, the best spot is on the western side near the first set of gates heading around from the Opera House there is a big hole there I fished there once as a child when you were allowed! My favourite spot is actually on the wall on the Mrs Macquries side facing east to Garden island on a spot called Joes Rock. If you don't get there at the right time of day and start burleying imediately they will not hold and you get very few fish it is one spot where you will not get a fish unless you have real good local knowledge.
arpie Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 he he Funny how you NEVERY FORGET where you had a good fishing session!! Roberta
roosterman Posted February 24, 2011 Posted February 24, 2011 Nz may have big trout, kings & reds but we have the blackies ... Sounds like ya having a ball and settling back in nicely... Talking about old russian joes spot brings up many fond memories of the good ol days... Cheers...steve....
