Im sure removed you could give it a real good clean with a wire wheel and prime then paint using killrust type products. You could use a dremel if u are going to clean it in place. andrew399 Posted February 26, 2011 Share Posted February 26, 2011 Hi mate, I did mine about a year ago, sanded it back to bare metal, painted it with a rust converter to get rid of the last bits of rust, then painted with a killrust type paint and I have not had an issue since. Just make sure you get the whole unit covered to ensure that the rust is kept at bay. Also, fit a battery isolator if not done already so you dint have an issue with current sppeding up corrossion.
