Ive used it as bait a bunch of times and it always seems to work a treat on bream flathead and even the kings. What have you been aiming to get with it?
framedtrash Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 if you plan on using them for bait dont bleed them i just give them a smack on the head then into the ice slurry
davegroves68 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I got some good Bluespot flatties on fresh and salted Bonnies on saturday. I also got another Bonnie on salted strip and a King on fresh Bonnie.with a few throw back snapper in the mix. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=54493 Think i might be using it again, and again. Dave
helliconia Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Ditto, and you get a lot of baits off a bonnie. 3 of us fished for a whole afternoon on one bonnie a few weeks back with lots of bream, snapper, and flatties coming into the boat. Unfortunately I parked us over a nursery and had to throw them all back

One of the best baits going, cut the two fillets off and salt them properly and the fish had better look out awsome bait. chris
Basil D Posted March 2, 2011 Author Posted March 2, 2011 Ive used them for flaties in the hacking and on reef, the bait wasn't touched, when I put pillies down or prawns on a reef I get smashed
Guest Aussie007 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 is it just me? i find bonito is useless fresh it just falls to bits however does work great when frozen and while its frozen once defrosted its useless again
AndrewNR Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Caught Jews and kings. If they are in the environment they are definatly on the plate. Fresh is best.
