waldo60 Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 hey raiders, thought id turn to you gents, so confused. i just got my 1980 70 hp johnson back on the water. now... in the normal fuel tank it runs fine all day without missing a beat. i switch to a brand new tank once the other ones empty, goes for abit then the revs drop right down and i put it to idle and basically cuts out. try restarting, forget it. i tip the fuel from new tank to old tank and after a few minutes it starts and doesnt miss a beat again. its a new tank, new connections, premium fuel, oil ratio ok, same primer bulb and line.... am i missing something??? thanks gents, got me buggered
fishon Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 did you make sure your breather was open on the new tank?
a boat Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 Hi, pretty solid evidence the new tank is faulty and I would not mind betting you have a split in the new tanks pick-up hose. Cheers, Huey.
waldo60 Posted March 7, 2011 Author Posted March 7, 2011 im sure the breather was open but will have to check that, will check to tube too. someone else said their tube was too long and was flush against the bottom of the tank so gonna check that too.
