tf211 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 Left early - 6:30, and tried for squid for over three hours - for only 3 squid and a cuttlefish. Tried various spots in the Harbour for Jewies and Kings - only landed a 50cm Kingy and a 1 meter shark (actually didn't land shark - he looked a bit cross). It seemed very slow for everyone. Just one of those days. Sorry that the news isn't better. No photos worth showing.
tentonner Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 same story on sunday i think, we caught plenty of squid but the kings werent playing ball
sarod420 Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I was out on monday also, squid and yakkas were easy to come by early in the day. Spent the best part of the morning chasing the surface schools catching plenty of bonito and salmon on the fly rod. I suspect there where some spotties in the schools, saw some big silver streaks slashing through the bait schools, heaps of long toms in the mix too. Didnt see many kings up on the surface though , just a few rats following hooked bonnies to the boat. Later in the morning tried some livies and squid strips around all the likely king haunts with no luck, managed 1 rat on an unweighted pilly cube, tough morning!
kurtisjohnthomas Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Was out there on Wednesday. Long Tom everywhere. They don't put up much of a fight though. Surface action was a bit slow, looked a little calm for any substantial surface activity.
