Heys guys

Just wondering, who is incharge of like boat business's designs and such? who designs the hulls, or the decals on the boat and simple things like that?

Would it be a hard job to get into?

What about the boat reviewers, people who take the photos of the new models?

I have an interest in design and photography and was wondering if it would be hard to get what to me would seem like a dream job.

Cheers

Put a portfolio together outlining your experience and what you would like to get into and send it then follow up with a call. You never know your luck.

Boat building is a highly skilled job I expect.

I would imagine that would probably be a job they would outsource to a design firm rather than keep inhouse. If you think about it, you design the graphics once for a model then you wouldn't change them til the next year at the earliest.

If you're looking for a career change the boat review photography might be a better bet if you can get a permanent role at a magazine, but even then I think they use free-lancers for a lot of that work too.

Best bet might be to poll the manufacturers and magazines and ask them how they structure these parts of their business.

Good luck, if this is your dream don't let a few problems stop you! Go for it and think how jealous we'll all be :)

Hi, Telwater is the parent company of the three biggest brands of alloy boats here in Oz and they are very organized company and why, besides the fact we think Stacer is the best designed hull on the market, we choose to stock and sell Stacers-the company behind them makes it easy to do this. Trust me, in our time in business we have dealt with ALOT of boat and outboard manufacturers and dealing with professional companies makes it easy.

As suggested I would contact Telwater with your resume and they are always looking for good staff and you would be surprised howmuch in doen "in house".

Cheers,

Huey.
