arpie
Hi all The ABT Kayak Bream Round was held this weekend, as a prelude to the Forster Fishing Carnival - which starts at midnight tonight & runs til about lunchtime next Saturday! Separate section for Kayakers this year, so that is great!! We can catch 4 species to submit - bream, flattie, whiting & luderick! Looks like I need to brush up on my blackie skills!!! CONGRATULATIONS ON A SUPERB WIN, LUKE!! However ...... the action has all been over the last 3 days!! Prefish on Fri - many found it hard fishing as it was 'out' tide for most of the session, only kicking in with an hour or so of 'in tide' at the end!! As the weekend progressed, it became totally 'out tide' for the whole session today! Lots of my yakking friends & some Fishraiders were in the Yak Comp - as I'd already entered the FFC, I didn't enter the ABT this time ..... plus I hate fishing low tides here!! I was, however, out & about casting a line (away from competitors) and taking pics of folk as they passed by! I stayed away from my 'normal haunts' as I'd helped show a few folk around some of my 'spots' in the last year or three, so I didn't think it fair if I hit 'my' spots when not in the comp! Fishraiders Luke & Tristan were both fishing the comp - Tristan found the fishing 'tough' but brought fish to the weighmaster each day, whilst Luke cleaned up!! Luke on stage Tristan at ramp He caught the biggest bag on Sat & consolidated a superb win by bringing a marginally smaller bag in today! He was up against some seriously GOOD FISHOS, and to knock them off their perches, is a real blast!! You may recognise some other names there, as well. From memory, Greg Lewis was on the ABT Boat series last year, being the overall winner of the ABT Yak comp, so should be on the latest DVD put out on the ABT series! pmak
Congratulation to Luderick Luke. Full bag of bream and the top placings close too. Hope we can get a report some time down the track. Good on you Roberta for letting others 'play' in your favourite areas. Hope you do well in the Forster Fishing Carnival
gerg
Yes, good luck in the FFC this year Roberta. Hopefully that little Gekkabijin Vib snags you a few fish... Thanks for sharing your knowledge of Forster this weekend past, much appreciated. The Forster locals really turn on a great show up there for the carnival! Luke K
Hi Roberta, Thanks for your report, you've covered it well. It was a great weekend from both a social and competition perspective. Your right, the tides were't quite the best but my theory is that where there is water, there could be fish. My mate Lyndo who also fished the comp is a very wise fisho and he once put it to me like this. Imagine throwing on a mask and snorkel and jumping in. What would you expect to see? So true isn't it? I think even when things are not looking so fishy you just have to imagine that there could be fish there and you must be ready for what might happen next otherwise you might miss the tell tail signs of a "take".
