Basil D
Headed to Tassie to visit my Brother and His wife and our mate Matty, we went fishing and thought what better way for a get together. We headed out from eagle hawk neck and trawled to the 100meter line for about two hour before Landing two small Albacore then zilch nothing, Did 8 hours trawling and chatted for hours, the jokes poured out and the scenery was amazing, took both fish home, one went sushimi and the other BBQ. we ate fish for two days and damm aren't they tasty buggers, I just cant think of a batter way to spent Quality time with friends and family,
james7
Beautiful place to fish Groper. Shame the fishing was a bit quiet, but it sounds like a good time was had by all. You ended up with a tasty feed and had a great time with family and friends. Sounds like a terrific way to spend a couple of days. Keflapod
Hey Basil, Lovely place - scenery is amazing. The gear you were trolling looke lightweight. What if a decent SBT picked up one of the lures? You'd still be fighting it.... or perhaps the spool would still be spinning after being spooled.... Did you try for a bottom fish? Tassie trumpeter perhaps? Those sheer walls look like there may be some nice bottom structure for a bait drop. Do they get kingies there? Tony

Tony Hey Tony, it was 80lb line we where fishing with and yes I would have still been there had I latched onto a monster. I have bottom bashed there b4 and they have parrot fish & cod there, Havent been lucky enough for striped or bastard trumpeter. They get kingies North of Tasmania, I was down south at Tasman Islands 30km past port Arthur Edited March 15, 2011 by Groper

Basil D
i think sydney is goods tasy I reckon Sydney is far better place to fish than Tasmania, we have a huge variety of fish here while in Tasmania your very limited, but its great to fish new Places and still good fishing, you have Flathead, big flounder, arrow squid, sharks, parrot fish, wrass, cod, tune, trumpeter, blue eye cod etc & you need a big Boat for outside fishing as it can turn ugly very QuicklyAnd Its great to catch up with my brother, we are very close friends.
