Hello Raiders,

My mate who owns the boat has been been caught up with other commitments. So fishing has been landbase much lately..

First trip dates back a couple of weeks ago, the weather wasn't very good. So after checking weather report, I've

decided that we head north where it rains alittle less. Location was decided to be Avoca Beach. This was on a Friday,

and usually on weekends there at the rocks there are hundreds of people fishing. But I was quite sure with the shitty weather

lately there wouldn't be many crazy fisho out there. I was correct, only one other guy was there besides us..

Arrive there around 7pm. I can see Bonitos jumping out of the water about 60m from shore. I quickly put on metal slice

and started spinning. Only landed two around 50cm before it got dark. Time to change the setup for Taylors.

From 8:30pm to 10:30pm we caught many Taylors biggest one was close to 60cm. It quieten down alittle after that. Left at 11pm.

Second trip was Friday 18th March, despite the crazy weather again. I decided that we head to the Gong for some squid / Taylor session.

On the way down there, it was pouring so hard that I can hardly see whats ahead. I started cruising around 70km/hr with my wipers on full speed, and my blinkers on.

Everyone on board was alittle disappointed with the heavy rain. But I reassured them that its only showers and will clear up once we get down there. I was correct !

We arrived there before 8pm and fish till after 1am. During that time it didn't even rain one drop, but started sprinkling as we were packing up to head home.

In this 5hrs session, we only caught one Taylor. But many squids. Biggest one was close to 1.4kg.

Yozuri pink size 4.0 did the trick this time.

Needless to say that we been having inbetween trips here and there. And yet its been pretty good in the last couple

of months. I've even landed my first legal Jewie. It went 66cm. Too small so I'm not going to put a pic up.

Hope you guys enjoyed my quick reports, and thanks for reading. Cheers.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe squids prefer colder water.

So if I've been catching decent squids recently. It can only means squiding will get better

in the next couple of months coming into winter.

Hill 60. Windang Island. Outer Harbour. Has produce squids in the past for me on landbase.

I use squid jigs. I find it works better than yellow tails on skewer. But the squid jigs

is alot lighter and harder to cast a distance. So wind has always been a factor for me. My location

is due to the which direction the wind is blowing.

Fish an hr before and after dusk should be most productive time for squid. It will take several

trips before you start to get the hang of it. Persistence is the key...
