BFB Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Watching and reading fishing articles they often talk about using doubles like plaits or bimini twists on their main line. My question is why would you use doubles and when do you use them? Also which type of double do you prefer to use. Any help in this area will be greatly appreciated.
Robofish Posted April 9, 2011 Posted April 9, 2011 Hi, I like using doubles when attaching braid to a mono leader, mainly to form a better knot but it also gives you some more strength when your catch is at close range - all the big game boys use them for that reason. I like to use a bimini twist which took me a while to get right but to be fair is dead easy once you work it out. I always put a tiny dab of superglue on the half hitches that secure the knot and for the braid to mono knot I use a kaneit which is really slim. Hope this helps.
