USA boat import.........

Hey Raiders, i'm looking at importing a Boston Whaler Outrage 230 from Florida. Has anyone got one of these who can give me some feedback? My current boat is a Marlin Broadbill which is great but need a CC to suit the styles of fishing i'm doing. It's just to hard to resist buying a US boat at the moment with the dollars strength.

Got it all sussed as far as shipping goes and trailer permit etc. I'm heading over there in a month or so ( just waiting to sell current boat ) and if anyone who is considering doing the same wants to team up, twice the buying power for shipping, trailer etc could get some much better pricing. PM me if interested.

Hey there, the Outrage 230's are a VERY sort after boat, both in Aus and USA. You will pay a premium for this type of boat in the US as they sell well, also it is summer over there at the moment and they dont last as long.

Do your self a favour, wait till it cools down as you can often nab a bargain in winter time.

Make sure you look into all the costs, and purchase a new trailer built to AU specs as this will save you a lot of heartache.

Last thing, make sure you trust who your dealing with! The Yankies have cottoned onto us Aussies buying their boats for a premium and whilst there are many trustworthy brokers and dealers out there, there are some that are in it for a quick buck!

Good luck with search and PM me if you want any information.

Hi Billy, thanks for the info mate. I have been thinking about the summer winter thing and i reckon you're right. Might be boatless for a few months so if anyone needs a deckie PM me! Haha! I am going to go over there at some point and check it out, wouldn't trust anyone buying a used boat from in another country. At least i'm on the right track with the type of boat! Cheers

The biggest problem is your shipping company going under ( several in the last 12 months) and then paying again when she arrives here. Worse still paying and not getting on the ship as promised, compamy going under then trying to locate the boat, paying xorbitant storage and land tansport fees.

Be very carefull who you choose to transport it, I would go as far as not paying sea freight untill she lands in AU.

The company is called Watercraftmix.com, have you heard anything about them? It will be shipped in a container.
