New squid setup

I've been looking into a squid setup for the past week and today I picked my weapons of choice, a Nitro Custom Squid (http://www.innovatorrods.com/nitro-customsquid.html) and a Shimano Stradic 2500FI spooled with 6lb Suffix Elite.

I can't wait to test it out, though I need to order some jigs from Japan as my collection is very slim at the moment because I didn't restock after the last session.

Yeah I don't like the idea of dropping squid due to slack line with braid, mono all the way.

I was looking at getting a Berkley Egi Master, but when the guy at the stackle store said he'd give me the Nitro for $250 instead of $300 I couldn't say no.

Besides my Daiwa Interline Sealine-X and Daiwa Sealine SL50SH, which has been gathering dust since we sold the boat and now fish inshore only, this is the most expensive setup I've ever owned.

Hey Mr Squidy, just wondering why exactly you prefer mono over braid when chasing squid? I run 12LB braid with 12LB flouro leader and it does seem to do the job fine...

Just curious, thats all

Taken from the Fishraider article: http://www.fishraider.com.au/fishing-articles/squidding-sydney-harbour.php

Now here’s the theory… using ‘stretchy’ mono creates a shock absorber making it less likely you’ll ever have slack line between you and your squid. Because of the ‘pulsing’ way a squid fights and the barbless jags, any slack will let the jags drop out of a hooked inker.
