Fitzroy Island

Hey Raiders

Wondering if anyone has fished at fitzroy island before .....mainly going there for some R and R but ya know how it is.......surrounded by water

Is it worth taking a bit of gear there?

Haven't been up there for years and from what I've heard the islands changed alot but I dare say the fishing is still fantastic! I only took pretty basic gear due to luggage constraints but still managed to have a pretty good time catchin a few off the jetty. Definately worth packing a few less clothes to make room for the important stuff. I'd recommend askin around up there for some spots and what to expect to catch- never goes astray! Best of luck and enjoy the island my friend.

Nice resort but the locals see the fish of the jetty as pets. Lots of GT's cruising and coral trout along the beach double check your cargo lengths. Un-policed marine sanctuary

Thnxs guys....I rang the resort and you are free to fish anywhere around the island except off the jetty.....this may be there own rule rather than law i dont know but I would respect that anyway.....sounds like its worth a crack
