rikkigilbey
hey Raiders, Im off to Cronulla on monday for a fish, thought id try somewhere a little different, just wandering if anyones fished there before and if so how was it, what worked and where abouts? thinking of just flicking out some pillies on one rod and leaving it, in hope for some salmon or tailor, then flicking out some banana prawn for the brim n flatties, if their around, on another, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Gilbey ps if anyones keen to join drop us a PM
james7
G'day Gilbey There's going to be a bit of a breeze and swell on Monday which may make it a bit uncomfortable, but I always found that I caught more fish off the beach when the water was churning a bit. There seem to be a lot of rays around when it's dead calm. You'll have a good chance of getting some tailor or salmon late afternoon/evening on your pillie. During the day, there are usually bream, whiting and tarwhine around. I found beach worms or pippies probably the best bait for them. (I use both because some days they seem to prefer one over the other) I usually fish from Elouera and Wanda around to Greenhills (less people, sufers etc to get in your way) Try fishing on the edge of the sand bars, letting the bait wash into the channel or rip. You might find a flattie or bream there. If it's quiet for more than half an hour or so, move along the beach. Sometimes they tend to hang around one hole or channel. Good luck Cheers Peter
