bassboy888
G'day raiders i have been looking at a new rod to get recently to suit a 2000 sized reel most likely a quantum catalyst Pt the two rods i have been particularly looking at Samaki Zing 6'10" 4-8lb daiwa Spellbinder 7'0" 2-4kg i am leaning towards the samaki, but if anyone has any suggestions of a rod under $200 around the 7 foot mark and 2-4kg to be used for flats lure work. Is there also anyone with any of these rods that could share some light on them? Cheers bassboy

Hodgey
Depending on what you're targeting: Pfleuger Trion SP701LT Starlo Stix STP Pro Flats Spin L7102 Daiwa TD SOL II 701LFS The first two fall well inside your budget and represent good value for money. The Daiwa is a touch over your budget (about $220) but is the pick of the 3. I have all three rods mentioned, and the SOL is my go to rod for casting plastics at flatties, spinnerbaits at bass, poppers at salmon ... it does it all. Samaki are very popular down here at the moment, which possibly suggests they're worth considering? Good luck with your new purchase, and happy shopping! Tablets
I have owned a Daiwa Spellbinder and wont buy another. I have looked at the whole Samaki range and they certainly look good and the blank actions are even better.
Catchin Jack
Just to put a spanner in the works, take a look at the Pflueger Patriarch XTR rods, I got 2 of them and must say they're one of the nicest rods i've used, to the point i'd be happy to get rid of all other rods I have and replace them with a patriarch. Here's link to them XTR RODS
