sanger Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Hey guys, This is basically a report about nothing but i thought i'd let you know for all those wishing they were out on the water today it was hard work. Went fishing with zenman today and we worked hard for about 3 hous to get 2 decent sized squid. The water in the harbour is milky green crud and full of rubbish. As a result i donated about $50 worth of jigs to king neptune as it was hard to read the ground through water with about 1m visability. Due to the clarity of the water we ended up prospecting new grounds cause all the old faithfulls where lifeless. We fished middle, south and north head for squid with the best water and temp to be had at south head. We didn't see one patch of salmon or any site of the slimeys that others have been encountering of late. Ended up putting down some squid and a yakka in mh for a jew on the low tide...... Donut! Well except for the 576 pinkies that mike pulled up trying to catch one yakka. So yes the water did look great fom a far, the wind did play resonably nice but the story on the water was hard work. Bring back summer

Damn, was planning on heading to Blamoral tomorrow morning. Looks like I need a plan B.
samboy Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Balmoral was firing for me on tuesday arvo around 3pm -5pm. Heaps of yakkas around. Caught a couple of legal trevally and got busted off by one decent one. Plus hooked a good size salmon too fought him for about a minute and got busted off as I only had a tiny hook for catching yakkas!
zen801 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Yeah it was hard going but great to get out in the salt and sun so thanks Craig. I reckon July and august are the worst months for catching fish in Sydney unless you go chasing fin. It will pick up soon so good times are not far off. Going to the boatshow today and heading straight over to barcrusher. Got my quote and soon time to sell the estuary angler and put down my deposit. Bring on a 575c with 4 stroke 100 yammie. Seems to be a good time to buy a boat as discounts are very good. Mike
