Will let the boys tell there story. Back out tomorrow will post pics on Monday. Our club SGFC mako comp was on today & tomorrow.. SGFC boat Tantrum is leading with 6 sharks tagged, go Miran & Glen. We arent fishing the comp but plenty of makos hooked but a lot lost but no tuna. Anyway tomorrow is another day. Cheers Damo Edited July 30, 2011 by Reef Magic Charters
Day's Fishin Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Hi Damo, sounds like you had a decent day out. Just a quick question regards the SGFC comp. I had a moored boat at Watsons bay a number of years ago and watched the weight/in on a number of occasions. The thing that got to me was how some of the boats towed in large sharks weighted them and then dragged them back out to dump them! Do they still do that or is it all tag and release now? Regards Jeff
REEF MAGIC CHARTERS Posted July 31, 2011 Author Posted July 31, 2011 Yes it used to be a bit over the top but rules have changed & all circle hooks now so they release alot better than when they are gut hooked. The club promotes tag & release but a few boats still keep small ones for the table as they are great to eat. Cheers Damo
Day's Fishin Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Thanks for your reply Damo. Its good to hear that the club has changed their catch criteria. I agree that the small ones are great to eat and theirs nothing wrong with taking them as their not the breeders. Regards Jeff
