Mutt Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 As with most am looking at purchasing a suitable fishing/family (young) boat around the $20K mark. Have been researching for awhile now and am pretty impressed by the 470 Breeze from Haines Hunter. My only concerns are going offshore, wouldn't go out in bad weather but would like to pop outside a few km's now and then, is it ok? Also have seen a small amount of comments saying they can rock a bit when idle? Any comments both positive and negative would be greatly appreciated! TIGHT LINES!
a boat Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Hi, I choose to stock and sell the Haines Hunter range of boats so I am bias, but I do this because, even though I could sell any brand I like, the Haines Hunter are the best in my opinion. The 470 Breeze is a boat that offers alot to a new boater and will be a great boat for a young family, they are very safe, sure footed and ride very very well all due to the hull shape with the other critisim being that, due to the deep vee, the stability at rest can be a bit tender but you will soon get used to it. I think for your $20K you might be hard pressed to find a good example of a HH 470 Breeze but you never know and if I was looking at such a rig I would also think about the next one up, that is now called a 495 Profish, because it gets away from that 4.8M and smaller PFD law. For what it is worth we have a 520C Signature coming in in the next few days with a 115HP EFI Suzuki on the back. The guy is keeping hios trailer so we can fit a new trailer under it and if all passes our workshop tests this rig will be low $20Ks so a much bigger/better boat than a HH 470 Breeze. Cheers, Huey.
Mutt Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 Thanks so much Huey for your advice. The boat is actually with a dealer as well but I live a fair away from you, otherwise I would definitely support you if possible. I have heard nothing but positives about your business on this site. The boat I was looking at was high $21K and I have a small trade but I am still looking at finance and due to a new addition to to the family I might have to put it on hold for a year and have one more year in the tinny. If that is the case will certainly give you a buzz and see what you have available. Thanks again!
