Bottom bashing browns

G'day Raiders

Just wondering was size main lines you guys run when targeting the oogilies of the deep. I will be using a 30-50w overhead, still deciding on which shimano to buy, and probably a bent butt rod.

I use 100lb braid. Some use 200lb. Depends on your setup. I would have a seperate outfit for bottom bashing as opposed to cubing. I do it manually, but if you are going to make a habit out of it I would invest in an electric!!!

Thanks for the reply fishmaniac. Yeah already have a tyranos and tiagra 50w, and of course a trusty tld25 for trolling and cubing. But going to get another setup loaded with braid for down deep if we spot fish. About the manual reel...I guess I Just like to punish myself I guess haha. And I can load the reel with mono if I don't like it...

Mate I picked up a 2nd hand electric off online shop for about $500 added a bent butt whole setup cost less than buying a new 50... and all i can say is i could not imagine trying to bring up a string with a few fish (and a brick)on a 30 or a 50 ( i know people do... maybe I'm just soft or old most likely both)I still remember how sore my arm was when I spooled up my penn 50 and how long it took sitting at home. Having said that a guy i fish with has told me he's fished browns with a 50 never asked him how long it took .... lets just say he's now on power. plus if you stop to catch your breath you stand a good chance of losing you catch to a shark or once their swim bladders expand they can float off.

I use 100lb braid and 200lb leader.
