I headed out a couple of times last week in weather that could only be described as perfect. I was itching to head out and chase some fin but afternoon work & uni committments put an end to that!

On my first outing I picked up a couple of nice calamari and then went straight out for some salmon to find the schools under attack from dolphins. Conditions were great so I headed out to do a bit of jigging. Things were dead for about an hour or so. Then the kings turned on. I managed 6 fish between 79 and 88cm before having to leave to go to work.

A couple of days later i headed out with my girlfriend. Picked up a salmon on the way out but they were pretty fussy so I did not persist for long. I went out to try for some kings but only managed a couple of bloody couta's this time. However, a pod of pilot whales were hanging around which made things entertaining. As i was slowly motoring around the reef looking for sounder showings one of them took an interest and followed the boat. Amazing stuff

My girlfriend was bugging me to get some flathead. So we pulled up in a likely looking spot off the heads and started to drift. In about 2hrs we managed a dozen good sized flathead. We saw a large pod of dolphins as well. They had plenty of baby dolphins in the pod and they were very inquisitive. It wasa good way to end the day.

On sunday i headed out with a couple of mates and things were very slow. Our initial plan was to head out to browns but the weather did not look very inviting so we stayed in closer. We did end the day with a salmon and a couple of flatties and mowies. Conditions were pretty ordinary compared to the previous days.
