Andrew , the 1m mark you can fish no worries definately fishable , alot of factors such as moon , wind , current ,tide play an important role when beach fishing also. spizza
What do you guys consider to big of a swell to go and have a beach bash? 1m 1.5 and so on. Thoughts????? Thanks Andrew. It might be 1.5M in some areas, even more, and on the same beach on a protected corner of same beach it can be under 1M. For example if you fish a Southern side of a long beach with a big headland on the South of it, chances are it's protected from Southerly winds, swell etc. If you live close to any particular beach, it's worth checking out conditions beforehand. If you don't live close and drive out to a beach and find big seas, check out the protected corners of the beach etc. S.
fisholb
Mate, the best time to go beach fishing is when the swell is less than 1m. You can still catch some fish when its over 1m. You just need bigger star sinkers and need to check your rig and bait more often. When its over 2m, well it depends how far you travelled to the spot. Normally its just a waste of time. Always check the swell before you go. Sometimes the forecast is not right so when it says less than 1m, expect it will be more. Tides are a major factor too.
