brecko90
Hey guys, Planing a trip to Lake Cathie near Port Macquarie next week and just wondering if anyone has heard how the lake is fishing, if its open or closed to the sea and how if any one knows any good spots up there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
jordan.widz
Hey mate I've been fishing that lake for years it's a great area ay. My grandparents are up there at the moment and said the lake is closed up again but it was open only a month ago so the fishing should still be good. There might still be some blackfish around the bridge (anglers were bagging out on them not long ago) but when I go up there for holidays I usually wade the flats in the early morning or late arvo when there arent many swimmers and chuck plastics over the drop offs for flathead, got my biggest flattie in lake Cathie. And if u get some poddy mullet in the lake take them down to the beach and put some out as dead baits in a gutter and u will be in with a chance of jewie. I've seen many people getting them directly opposite them lake on dead poddys. Hope that helps and let me know how u go I love fishing that area.
