Yarraone
Hi Guys , I am sure this has been asked before ... I am taking some new raiders out around the bay soon and would like to catch some fresh bait, such as yakkas and squid..Not only would I like some help telling me where to go but can I get some help finding the areas that a newbie to catching bait will have a easier time than some other spots.. I have never caught squid before so it will be a first as well?

dhype
Hey mate- bait collecting is easy in the bay.. For yakkas.. Go to the small cove where the 2x big tug boats are moored ( you can't miss them) Burley up and the yakkas will come. You will also find plenty of bait sized yakkas right on the kurnell boat ramp also.. Squid.. Head to end of yarra bay or near the foot bridge at bare island.. the area around the nude male beach are all good areas. Find the kelp and you will find the squid. I find the Diawa MD squid jigs perform really well in Botany. hope this helps.. Good luck Cheers Trung Edited September 9, 2011 by dhype

Penguin
Thanks guys, I have herd people talk about this cove where the tugs are..does anyone know the name of it? how about where is it from yarra bay? Just so I head in the right direction There are two blue tugs at the very end of the Mollineaux pt breakwall, the yakkas can usually be found here. Be carefull though as I have seen a map that marks this area as a no boating zone, I cant find it now but I def did see it. I have also seen boats anchored in this spot, never seen anyone tell them to move on though, other Raiders may have, and can let us know. cheers
