fisholb
Checked the weather condition saturday night and it wasnt looking good for sunday. Winds up to 30knots, swell up to 4m. rang up my mate and told him. he said' well check sunday morning and hope for the best'. the phone rang around 6am sunday morning and one of my mate asked if im going fishing. i said 'no, the weather is no good'. he said'mate im already on the spot and already caught 2 salmon'. i said'thanks for telling me and for waking me up'. he said ' are you gonna come???'. i told him to ring me after 2hrs. around 830am the phone rings and guess who is on the other line??? my mate that woke me up. he asked where i am, i said still in bed trying to go back to sleep. i asked him if he caught anymore and he said no. still 2 salmon. i asked about the condition, he said, its windy and the swell is around 2m. i told him im not going anymore. anyway around 11am, i got a call from my mate who i spoke to sat night. he asked me if we are going fishing or not? i said its up to him and he said hell pick me up before 1pm. so left home around 1pm, pick up a block of pilchards and off we went. got to the spot around 2pm. the wind was blowing around 15-20kph and the waves were around 1m-2m. from 2pm to 5pm, the only thing we caught was weeds. had to cut the mainline and re-rig half a dozen times. 3hrs with nothing so i asked myself ' time to pack up???'. my mate was still trying to remove weeds from the beach so i decided to use what i call a '2-minute rig'. just tie a star sinker to the end of the mainline and make a loop around 30cm above the sinker. slide the hook in the loop and off you go. put a whole pilchard on the hook with the tail tied to the loop. anyway,, after 2mins, my rod tip started to shake a bit and i told myself 'another weed'. grab the rod from the holder and started reeling in. it was a bit dark already and to my surprise, a good size tailor around the 40cm. i yelled to my mate' finally got one!!!' my mate just gave me the look so i grab the tailor and showed it to him. my mate gave me the thumbs up. he was already packing up. so i quickly re-rig and after 2mins my rod tip started to shake again. this time i know it will be a tailor and it was around the 35cm. by this time my mate was already pack and ready to go home. so i quickly pack my gear and off we went. 2 tailor in less than 5mins but waited more than 3hrs. at least we didnt go home empty handed. i offered 1 tailor to my mate but he refused to take it. he said 'thats not even enough for your dinner'. got home around 7pm. cleaned the tailor and gave it to my wife and she pan fried it for dinner. yummy. nothing beats fresh fish specially when you caught it yourself. sorry forgot to take pics before i ate it. i was really starving. didnt have time to have lunch.
