PRED-ATOR
Hey Raiders, Changing the entry roller on my boat this weekend. I have been looking at the self guided rollers. Do they actually work? Cheers, Stan
PRED-ATOR
Hi Stan.. I assume you mean the type that are spring loaded ,with the two arms. I had a set of retriever mates fittd to the trailer for my Haines V17l and they did work. Was especially handy when I was by myself and the wind was blowing. All you had to do was get the nose of the boat between the two spring loaded arms and winch. It would self align which was great ,as anyone who has single handedly tried to retrieve a boat in the wind will know what a pain it is. Thanks for the info Obey1, The one im referring to is basically a roller with what appears to be a screw thread on it, so it guides it in the centre by the v digging into it. But i am interested in the one that you used. Do you have a pic of it? Thanks again
Catchin Jack
This is what I had on last trailer
iMick
Wow, coincidentally I done that to the entry roller on my trailer about three days ago. The pin seized in, but got it out bashing it through the holes in two bricks, had to bash the metal frame work on the trailer first the get it off. Tried it the other day and seems ok, Mick Edited September 12, 2011 by iMick
helliconia
My trailer has two arms on the back that swivel vertically and laterally. Looks like something that except there are centre rollers along the spine of the trailer too. The roller bars on the ends swivel as does the main arm. As the boat rides up onto them they hug the V of the hull and guide it towards the centre. I have found you just have to do it gently. I usually drift up onto them, let them gently centre the hull then apply idle forward until I feel it settle then power up the trailer. Hasn't failed yet but I haven't tried it in a really strong wind.
squidboy
Hi Predator, I have pictures of one in the selling section of this site. If you want I am home this weekend if you want to see it physically. I live in West Ryde. It is made by Steadfast marine and has videos of how they work on you tube on their site from memory. This may assist you with your enquiry online. Cheers Marco.

tareeterror
The self centering rollers work well, also Retriever mate as shown above are great too, I got a set for my birthday off wife and kids, now can retrieve 4.7 glass boat on my own with ease, and only cost about $150 from big well known boat parts shop.
