sat blacky madness

hi guys,

got up at sparrows again sat morn and headed out to chase blackies for couple hrs.

got to my spot deployed float and kept eye on it as i got a spoon of burly and as stopper reached float it just slowly went down, hmmmm not to worry as a hastilly rigged float mustnt be weighted correctly.

as i deploy a bomb the floats now moving sideways :1yikes: bugger i lift rod and instant pandemonium breaks out.

i have basically dropped a bait into fishes mouth and another has taken a liking to my second bait.

well it didnt last long as i pulled hook on one and the second found something to snag me and snap the 6lb leader.:ranting2: ..

what a start to the day and suns still not up proper..

i quickly deploy some burly and rig up and instantly im into em again :yahoo:.. woooohooooo ..

they are not big but are very fiesty buggers and i stop using net after the 4th or 5th one in 15 min or so..

this bite lasted for about 90 min or so and as quick as the downs were they dissapeared and cruised off along the weed beds doing there thing..

in amongst the blackies i got 3 sergeons but only little tackers about 25cm but still fun to get..

i pulled the pin and was home by 9.30am to have brekky with kids..

kept a dozen for a feed to about 35cm and prob got about 20 or so all up..

not real big but as i said very fiesty buggers mostly..

if you were considering chasing blackies then get in while they are still hot as this is when they are easiest to catch and wont last much longer..

i tried to fish sunday but gave up as wind and rain made it uncomfortable... must be getting old as it never used to worry me. :074:

cheers...steve....

Tried to PM you but you cant take messages so here it is.

Hi mate good catch...... WHERE???????????????

I fished out at Drumorne on Saturday at stewies favorite spot where he has been braining them, saw a fellow fish raider out there who had caught 4 before i got there and stopped fishing for them. I berleyed hard and fished the depths told to me and caught 1 fish with 1 other down in a 3 hour window on a rising tide. I have a case of the bad luck.

I would love a tip as to where to go. Will they be biting off the rocks as well do you think?

Thanks

Craig

hi craig, sorry buddy my inbox was full...

the blackies will be getting patchy around now but if ya lucky can still find em in good schools still doing there thing..late bloomers :074: ..

some places fish better certain tides as fish move with tide ..

if you can go to a spot they will hold up at night with good cover like wharves, big kelpy alcoves outa current etc then get there before sunup and use burly to hold em and you should be in with a good chance..

this has been great success for me over last few yrs as fishing times limited so home early to family duties and usually get a feed..

sometimes they just move on and one day can be very different from the next but the early morn trick usually works till the buggers go play elsewheres..

i used to get my cuz who was a gun blacky boy to rig me up,bait up put my float an inch away from his and guess whose float went down :1prop: yep sometimes the fishing gods are cruel...

happened a couple times... keep at it and pay attention to when ya get downs certain spots etc and you should see a pattern...

the ones i got this time were in pittwater but have got them in harbour and georges also last few weeks...

cheers....steve......

Thanks Steve,

What you said makes sense and will suite me fine in terms of early mornings. Im in Bondi and have a few nice spots to fish depending on wind and swell direction.

I really should make a log of when, where, tides moon and the likes. Dad and I used to do that up in Noosa before I left and each year we would always out fish everyone and know exactly where to go and when. They are a cunning fish that are so much fun I think half to do with the fact that they are such tricky and odd feeders.

I will never give up and shall get these waters nailed soon.

Once it gets warmer its jew and kings LBG for me. Lets hope i still have the patience haha

Cheers
