PRED-ATOR
G'day Raiders, Went down to Yowie bay with a couple of mates last night, honestly it was just to get out of the house and take my mind off work. We got there around 730 and fished off the wharf/jetty which looks really good. The tide was coming in and it was a really large tide. I had the bait caster out with a squid jig and was flicking plastics and bait for bream. I managed one squid which dropped off the jig which i have not seen happen much so i must be pretty retarded. Caught 2 bream which were small for that area. The rest of the night consisted of just catching up with good mates. Was good to get out mid week. takin the missus out to the harbour this weekend for our aniversary. Anyone else going? ill be on chanel 86 Cheers, Predator

In any case, I would use any excuse to be getting away for a fish too. At night with mates on a wharf - these days you need a few just in case the 'undesirables' turn up and want to fight. It was so cold your squid dropped off did it ? ...and both your bream shrunk as well ? Man it must have been cold ! When you take your missus out on the harbour for the anniversary, are you gonna take fishing gear as well ? She will wanna be romancin' while you wanna be fishin. ...and whatever you do, leave the mates at home for that fishing trip - er, I mean for that anniversary trip. PRED-ATOR
LOL Tony, I have already pointed out to my missus that this will be a fishing trip. She for some reason is compliant, maybe because of all the guilt i stacked on her. Yeah there were a couple of unsavoury people last night drinking but they didnt say anything. People who try start fights with fisherman are stupid, do they not understand that we carry a very sharf knife in our tacklebox lol. I have come to the conclusion that people start fights with fisherman because they are angry that they are not fishing themselves hahaha. And yeah...it was the cold that made me drop them... haha,. Cant take my mind off bloody work these days, the more you get paid, the more your responsible for : (

Saw a bloke down there last year working a kingfish jig doing castand retrieves , He was keen to catch a king but he never hooked up , Had a good work out though Any idea if the wharf light still turns off at a set time , it use to go off at 10pm??? PRED-ATOR
I think its still 10, Sometimes its better when the light go out because all the unsavoury characters leave aswell my mate caught a little tailor and the usual yakkas destroy any bait you send out there haha. im keen to take the boat on the hacking though, ive never fished anywhere else on the hacking but yowie bay. Great waterway to catch any species you want to chase , even heard of yellow fin in south west arm from time to time would love to see with my own eyes to believe it . Plenty of public mooring to tie up and do over nighters for the big fishing trips. Plenty of nipper grounds for gathering live bait if needed Only thing that can bring you un-stuck in the hacking is the sand bars you have to pretty much stay in the channels otherwise keep a good eye on the sounder.Put your boat in and you,ll be hooked for life Chris. wonniefisho
Are squid jigs pretty much the only way to catch squid here? I've fished here a lot in the past with bait for a few bream etc but not sure how to go about fishing for squid. Suggestions on jigs? And is it just a cast and slow retrieval? Thanks
steze
Use jigs no larger then 2.5.
