Nutz4Fishin
G'day to all! Long time viewer of this page and thought it was about time I signed up and made a post. Went out in Botany Bay on Tuesday 4/10/11 on my cousins boat 4.5m centre console with the plan of getting a few squid for live bait in the hope of bagging a couple of kingies. After an hour or so without success on the squid decided to give up and move our way out into the bay. Any tips on catching squid in Botany Bay would be greatly appreciated. Anyway no fish in the boat after a period out in the middle of the Bay and the southerly was to much. We decided to head back into calmer waters up the river where we could find ourselves a bit of protection. Anchored up in a nice spot of ours near Como bridge, protected from the wind, nice berley trail flowing and after an hour or so without a bite things started to heat up. First off hooked a stingray, cut it loose and re-rigged before picking up two 35cm flathead (both released) within quick time, a few just undersize whiting and bream before BANG my rod nearly snaps, a good fight for a beautiful 65cm flathead netted and in the boat. I baited up again, flicked it out and within about 30 seconds on the bottom BANG, this time a 67cm flathead. Roughly another dozen or so fish which just went undersize and things went quiet again se we called it a day. Ate the two flathead for dinner that night. Tasted amazing along with feeding five people. Can't wait to get back out there again.

Bashful
Nice work mate. It's great to see such big flatties in the bay. I was fishing off Como marina on Monday and all we got was small bream taking off with our baits..guess its another reason to get a boat.

My mate went out today and did well again. Surprisingly we weren't that far from the shore so I guess the boat is not always needed! In saying that the boat does come in handy.
