bb4life
Hey guys, decided to try my luck with my mate at balmoral again after next to no success last week. This time i was with a mate who fishes every month or so down here so he had a tad more knowledge of the area more than i did. We set out to get to the wharf after midday and arriving on the 3pm high tide. Our plan was to catch some live yakka on a jig and chuck it out hoping for a very early season kingy or a tailor. First off we chucked in some berley made of bread crumbs, catfood(sardines) and bread. Didn't seem to make much of a difference as thought. Like last time we had little success starting off but managed to find a spot off the wharf that has a few rocks and must be a hole or something because it was just swarming with fish. Every cast got a fish, sadly it was mostly small bream and tarwine. Eventually we got a yakka so decided to chuck it on the live rig. At first it was swimming well and seemed well. After 30 mins it was starting to die and had no hits but boy did it attract more fish! Left it in close to the wharf and i swear it been wounded got more fish coming. After a while it died so we cut it up and chucked a fillet on and put it wayyyy out. As it got close to 6 we started to get bored of the little ones so pretty much packed up. When i checked the yakka fillet it was gone, taken a clean sweep so something was out there! In total we caught roughly 30-40 fish between the two of us, all were chucked back except the yakka. Good day of fun even though no real keepers! btw the local pelican was back begging for some fish.. he got one Here is a photo of a stingie we caught on some gulps at the spit last week since i got no photos today :/ sorry guys!
